Job summary

HireArt helps an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Maintenance Technician to join its Manufacturing Engineering team in Hayward, CA, to support the equipment used to build autonomous vehicles. You will maintain and troubleshoot vehicle assembly equipment, respond to production downtime, and help develop preventative maintenance processes to improve reliability.

Ideal candidates are hands-on with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, experienced with industrial or automotive

Qualifications

Expected compensation: 41.97 USD Per Hour

HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Maintenance Technician to join its Manufacturing Engineering team and support the equipment used to build autonomous vehicles.

In this role, you'll maintain and troubleshoot vehicle assembly equipment, respond to production downtime, and help develop preventative maintenance processes that improve equipment reliability and minimize disruptions.

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technician with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge and experience maintaining industrial or automotive assembly equipment. You're a resourceful problem‑solver who can troubleshoot equipment issues, work independently, and collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, and equipment vendors.

As a Maintenance Technician, You'll

• Support the development of preventative maintenance procedures and standards under the supervision of the equipment and maintenance manager.
• Work with equipment vendors to perform major maintenance procedures.
• Perform or manage maintenance on vehicle assembly equipment.
• Respond to downtime events, equipment alarms, and production‑related support requests.
• Perform root cause analysis on equipment- and quality‑related issues.
• Develop solutions to recurring or anticipated equipment problems.
• Order tools, spare parts, and supplies needed to maintain existing and future equipment.
• Train production staff on equipment best practices.
• Document equipment changes and modifications.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree
• 2+ years of experience working with industrial automation, automotive shop equipment, automotive or aerospace assembly equipment, or equivalent systems
• Strong electrical knowledge ranging from 12VDC to 480VAC and strong mechanical knowledge
• Basic knowledge of robotics, PLCs, pneumatics, hydraulics, vehicle lifts, and DC tooling
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings and schematics
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work effectively within a small, flexible team of engineers and technicians
• Experience with computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) software, with SAP preferred
