Job summary

Northern Kane County Chamber is seeking a Maintenance Technician for plastic injection molding in Elgin, IL. This role maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on molding equipment and facility systems to support production efficiency and safety.

You will read schematics, diagnose issues, and assist with mold changeovers, startups, and standby repairs. The position requires 1-3 years of manufacturing maintenance experience and a valid IL driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in plastic injection molding.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and independence.
• Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and automated equipment.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License and ability to operate maintenance tools and diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems to minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals to diagnose equipment issues.
• Support mold changeovers, production startups, and emergency equipment repairs as needed.
• Assist with facility maintenance, utility systems, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Pay Rate:$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Schedule/Shift: 1st Shift

Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on plastic injection molding equipment and facility systems. This role supports production efficiency, equipment reliability, and workplace safety in a manufacturing environment.
