Job summary

ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital of Eau Claire is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the brand-new facility. You will perform maintenance and repairs on hospital buildings, grounds, and equipment, including preventative maintenance and basic trades such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting.

Under the Director of Facilities, you will document work orders, ensure safety standards, and collaborate with staff to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or 2 years direct maintenance experience.
  • Experience in preventative maintenance, equipment and systems repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction.
  • Healthcare setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine facility maintenance including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
  • Runs safety checks, inspections, and walk-throughs.
  • Maintains grounds keeping and landscaping tasks.
  • Responds to work orders and documents completion of tasks.
  • Notes potential issues to Director of Facilities promptly.
  • Follows preventative maintenance programs and safety procedures.
  • Maintains records for facility regulatory compliance.

The Maintenance Technician , under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Hospital buildings, grounds, and equipment. This position also handles preventative maintenance and repairs for a wide range of hospital equipment and utility systems, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, light construction, painting, and grounds keeping. This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

Minimum Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent OR 2 years direct experience required.

Previous experience in the areas of preventative maintenance, equipment and systems repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction required.

Previous experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Essential Functions:
  • Performs routine facility maintenance, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, carpentry, and painting.
  • Performs regularly scheduled safety checks, inspections, and walk-throughs.
  • Performs groundskeeping duties.
  • Responds to and completes work orders and/or projects, records completion of work order and any changes in work performed.
  • Identifies and communicates potential issues related to services and equipment to the Director of Facilities in a timely manner.
  • In coordination with Director of Facilities, follows building preventative maintenance programs and procedures.
  • Participates in the development of departmental safety procedures.
  • Maintains records for facility compliance with all regulatory agencies providing oversight including local, state, and federal agencies relating to facility maintenance systems.
  • May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, visitors, and staff. Assesses the risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions. Complies with appropriate and approved safety and Infection Prevention standards.
  • Maintains regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule.
  • Completes required trainings, as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Job Requirements
Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:
  • Licensure in a field of specialty, such as electrical, plumbing or HVAC, preferred.
  • Must maintain acceptable driving record, current driver's license, and insurability.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of safety codes and regulations
  • Must be able to make mathematical calculations and follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and record management.
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:
  • A significant amount of walking, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling for both momentary and prolonged periods.
  • Both gross and precise motor functions.
  • Lifting/exerting up to 50 lbs.
  • Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Routine exposure to heat, cold, loud noise, restricted space, and moving parts.
