Job description

Maintenance Mechanic

Primary Location: East St. Louis

Shift:12 hours per day - Rotating shift

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Compensation: $28.09 - $35.92 + benefits available through union and sign‑on/retention bonus

Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for maintaining, rebuilding, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on plant operating equipment and facility buildings and grounds in accordance with SOPs. They install, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial equipment and support electrical activities as needed.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years associate degree in industrial maintenance or similar technical field
  • Minimum 3 years preventative maintenance and reliability experience
  • Minimum 3 years mechanical experience in an industrial manufacturing operation (pipefitter, machinist, millwright, or similar)
  • Minimum 3 years hands‑on experience with rotating equipment, conveyor systems, PLCs, and process equipment
  • Welding experience is an asset
Competencies
  • Professional with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, and P&ID
  • Experience operating mobile equipment such as forklift, man lift, front‑end loader, shuttle wagon, or other heavy equipment
  • Experience with a CMMS such as SAP or Facility Dude
  • Understanding of units of measure and weight; perform conversions
  • Self‑starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Available for overtime, callouts on off‑shifts, and weekends
  • Communicates with courtesy and tact when interacting with colleagues and other departments
Responsibilities
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair process equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems such as pumps, gear reducers, exhaust fans, boilers, compressors, conveyors, packagers, and a wide range of facility equipment
  • Interface with OEMs and vendors as necessary
  • Support inventory and management of spare parts
  • Recommend changes and improvements to existing equipment to improve reliability, accuracy, or optimize processes
  • Accurately complete all work performed according to work instructions; document and complete work orders using CMMS (Facility Dude)
  • Perform repairs and modifications as directed by the Maintenance Manager
  • Participate in training programs
  • Support site safety programs
  • Support or lead failure analysis process by discussing causes of equipment failure with stakeholders
  • Perform assigned preventive and corrective maintenance on plant systems and equipment
  • Execute other duties as assigned with or without accommodations
  • Coordinate equipment availability with appropriate personnel
  • Operate forklift, aerial man lift, railcar mover, pay‑loader, and pass a company‑administered proficiency test (required)
  • Complete and maintain safety, quality, ISO documentation and records
