Job Title: Filler Rebuild-Level Maintenance Technician
Job Description

This is a routine skilled maintenance role that spans multiple trades in maintenance, facilities, and construction. The position focuses on rebuilding and maintaining filler pumps and related equipment, while supporting broader facility maintenance tasks. It offers a clear growth opportunity within the Maintenance department, based on successful completion of a standardized mechanical aptitude test and interview process. The technician performs a variety of skilled tasks to inspect, repair, and maintain machinery, building systems, and equipment in a warehouse and distribution environment.

Responsibilities
  • Rebuild and maintain all filler pumps used for paint filling operations, ensuring reliable and efficient performance.
  • Maintain a neat, organized, and clean pump rebuild area, and ensure all parts inventory is properly tracked and stocked.
  • Analyze filler pump and fill unit performance and make recommendations to improve uptime and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance (PM) schedules on individual pumps and pump fill units, completing assigned tasks on time.
  • Assist in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment.
  • Support skilled maintenance workers with a wide variety of tasks, including conduit installation, conveyor repairs, and other maintenance activities.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on conveyors, bottling machinery, and other equipment as directed.
  • Move and carry heavy materials such as pipe, lumber, gravel, sand, or furniture in support of maintenance and facility projects.
  • Assist in preventive maintenance programs related to infrastructure equipment and safety concerns, including roof leak detection and pressure washing of exterior structures.
  • Perform routine mechanical repairs on filler units, including adjustments, part replacement, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Complete tasks as part of the overall PM program, including lubricating, oiling, painting, cleaning, and repairing machines, machine parts, and other equipment according to specified procedures.
  • Assist in testing electrical, pneumatic, and HVAC controls, and replace known individual components within these systems based on complexity and instructions.
  • Rebuild gearboxes and electric motors as part of equipment maintenance and repair activities.
  • Support maintenance work on bottling machinery, painting equipment, and metal fabrication-related tasks where needed.
  • Develop and present training and communication sessions for the department related to new or modified equipment operations and issues familiar to filler technician work, sharing best practices with the team.
  • Use the computerized maintenance management system to access work assignments, print work orders, and enter accurate feedback from field findings.
  • Determine effective methods and procedures for maintenance repairs, considering safety, efficiency, and long‑term reliability.
  • Provide clear troubleshooting and repair recommendations to maintenance leadership to support decision‑making and continuous improvement.
  • Effectively solve non‑recurring maintenance and equipment problems using resourcefulness and creativity.
Essential Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to rebuild and maintain filler pumps and related mechanical equipment.
  • Hands‑on experience with preventive maintenance (PM) on pumps, fill units, conveyors, and other production equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude to inspect, repair, and maintain machinery, building systems, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine mechanical repairs on filler units and associated components.
  • Basic electrical skills, including assisting in testing and replacing known components in electrical and pneumatic control systems.
  • Familiarity with HVAC controls and willingness to assist with testing and component replacement.
  • Capability to rebuild gearboxes and electric motors under guidance and established procedures.
  • Physical ability to move and carry heavy materials such as pipe, lumber, gravel, sand, and furniture.
  • Competence in using a computerized maintenance management system to access work orders and document work performed.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills to address non‑recurring maintenance issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Ability to determine appropriate methods and procedures for maintenance repairs while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Clear communication skills to provide troubleshooting recommendations and deliver training or updates to the maintenance team.
  • Attention to detail in maintaining a clean, organized work area and properly managing parts inventory.

Work Environment

The role is based primarily in a warehouse and distribution center setting, working around production, bottling, and facility equipment. The standard shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime available to support projects and maintenance needs. Daily attire consists of work khakis and a clean, appropriate T‑shirt. Personal protective equipment is required and includes steel‑toe footwear, ear plugs, and safety glasses. Work involves hands‑on tasks in and around machinery, conveyors, filler units, and building infrastructure, with occasional outdoor or elevated work for roof leak detection and exterior pressure washing. You work as part of a maintenance team of approximately 18 people in a collaborative, safety‑focused environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job‑related factors.
