Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain and repair machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Log maintenance in CMMS (Limble) and follow preventive maintenance.
  • Read and follow instructions and manuals.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area.
  • Read blueprints to fabricate equipment and modify as needed.
  • Repair or replace conveyors, gear boxes, hydraulics & pneumatics, welding and cutting.
  • Maintain HVAC, water softeners, chillers and other utilities.
  • Prioritize safety and pursue continuous improvement.

Salary Range: US$24.00 To US$45.00 Hourly


REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager
HOURLY RATE:$28.00- $45.00
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Permanent | Full-Time, 12- hour Shift
LOCATION: Copiague, NY

The Opportunity

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, utilities, and facility systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations in a GMP-regulated gummy manufacturing facility. This role performs preventive maintenance, responds to equipment issues, supports regulatory and food safety compliance, and partners with cross-functional teams to maximize equipment uptime and drive continuous improvement.


What Success Looks Like


  • Consistently maintain equipment reliability and uptime through effective preventive maintenance and rapid troubleshooting.

  • Complete maintenance work safely and compliantly while adhering to GMP, food safety, and company safety requirements.

  • Respond quickly and effectively to equipment issues to minimize downtime and support production targets.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that enhance equipment performance, efficiency, and reliability.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.

  • Maintain all types of equipment through a preventative maintenance program and log all details into a CMMS database. (Limble)

  • Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

  • Read blueprints and sketches proficiently to fabricate equipment and make modifications.

  • Repair or replace chains, belt conveyors, gear boxes/drive chains, hydraulics & pneumatics, welding/cutting, and use power tools.

  • Maintain HVAC systems, water softener systems, chiller units and other utilities.

  • Prioritize safety in approach to all work activities.

  • Focus on Continuous Improvement to streamline work processes.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience & Education


  • Highschool graduation or GED required, 2-year related diploma preferred.

  • At least 2 years' experience in equipment repair, maintenance and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing preferred.


Technical Skills


  • Knowledge of mechanical equipment, electromechanical or controls experience preferred.

  • Experience with industrial electrical components is required

  • Experience with electrical, HVAC and chiller systems would be considered an asset.

  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements


  • Willingness to work shift schedule including nights, weekends and overtime as required.

  • Must be able to wear all required personal protective gear.

  • Stoop, reach, kneel or crouch.

  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts.

  • Exposure to excessive noise and some hazardous materials.

  • Turn, bend, reach, pull, and walk.

  • Stand for extended periods of time; up to 12 hours.
