Job summary

TOPGUM PHARMA INC in Copiague, NY is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment in a GMP-regulated gummy manufacturing facility. You will perform preventive maintenance, address equipment issues, and support safety and quality compliance.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, maintaining HVAC and utilities, and working with cross-functional teams to maximize uptime while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in equipment maintenance or repair in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and controls systems preferred.
• Experience in GMP or food manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair production machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Run preventive maintenance program and log details in CMMS.
• Read blueprints and operation manuals for equipment.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Support HVAC, chiller and utility systems maintenance.
• Prioritize safety and contribute to continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment, utilities, and facility systems to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations in a GMP-regulated gummy manufacturing facility. This role performs preventive maintenance, responds to equipment issues, supports regulatory and food safety compliance, and partners with cross-functional teams to maximize equipment uptime and drive continuous improvement.

What Success Looks Like

• Consistently maintain equipment reliability and uptime through effective preventive maintenance and rapid troubleshooting.
• Complete maintenance work safely and compliantly while adhering to GMP, food safety, and company safety requirements.
• Respond quickly and effectively to equipment issues to minimize downtime and support production targets.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities that enhance equipment performance, efficiency, and reliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for installation, maintenance and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
• Maintain all types of equipment through a preventative maintenance program and log all details into a CMMS database. (Limble)
• Read, interpret, and follow instructions and operation manuals.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
• Read blueprints and sketches proficiently to fabricate equipment and make modifications.
• Repair or replace chains, belt conveyors, gear boxes/drive chains, hydraulics & pneumatics, welding/cutting, and use power tools.
• Maintain HVAC systems, water softener systems, chiller units and other utilities.
• Prioritize safety in approach to all work activities.
• Focus on Continuous Improvement to streamline work processes.

Experience & Education

• Highschool graduation or GED required, 2-year related diploma preferred.
• At least 2 years’ experience in equipment repair, maintenance and troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment, food manufacturing preferred.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of mechanical equipment, electromechanical or controls experience preferred.
• Experience with industrial electrical components is required
• Experience with electrical, HVAC and chiller systems would be considered an asset.
• Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Willingness to work shift schedule including nights, weekends and overtime as required.
• Must be able to wear all required personal protective gear.
• Stoop, reach, kneel or crouch.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Exposure to excessive noise and some hazardous materials.
• Lift 25+ pounds overhead
• Turn, bend, reach, pull, and walk.
• Stand for extended periods of time; up to 12 hours.
