Starting pay rate: $25 - $35 depending on experience and area.

Maintenance Technician

As a Maintenance Technician, you play a crucial role in ensuring each store operates smoothly behind the scenes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Service and maintain refrigeration equipment, including walk-in freezers, refrigerators, and coolers. Replace belts, service motors, controls, and refrigerant systems.
  • Service and maintain dishwashers, water heaters, steam kettles, cookers, and mixers.
  • Service and maintain ovens, gas valves, pilot lights, thermocouples, heating and refrigerating units on food carts, fans, and electrical cords.
  • Install and relocate food service equipment and appliances.
  • Lead the work of others, requisition materials, keep records of time and materials, and be responsible for user maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in other maintenance tasks throughout the district involving manual labor and skilled or semi-skilled work when not engaged in food service support.

Knowledge of:

  • Electrical and plumbing methods, principles, and practices related to buildings; knowledge of kitchen appliance repair, electric motors, pumps, compressors, electrical, refrigeration, heating, and plumbing systems.
  • Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair of food service equipment.
  • Basic arithmetic, work vocabulary, and English language skills sufficient for satisfactory performance.
  • Safety procedures and practices in food service areas.

Ability to:

  • Maintain, test, and troubleshoot electric motors, pumps, compressors, refrigeration, heating, and plumbing systems.
  • Use required hand and power tools.
  • Lift heavy objects.
  • Read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Estimate time and materials; maintain work records and reports.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.

Training and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.

Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license.
  • HVAC certification required in some geographical areas.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands are representative of those required to perform essential job functions. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

Employees must regularly use hands to handle objects or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Frequent walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, tasting, and smelling are required. Occasionally, standing is necessary.

Employees must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, push, pull, lift, climb, walk, and grasp. The ability to lift 75-100 lbs. regularly is required. Vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Work Schedule: Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
