Job summary

Rockingham County (NH) seeks a General Maintenance and Shift Technician to ensure safe and efficient boiler plant operations and related mechanical systems at the County Complex. The role includes maintenance, inspections, and emergency response to safeguard residents and staff.

You will service biomass-fired boilers, high/low pressure systems, HVAC/R, and pneumatic equipment, while following safety protocols and contributing to a secure, environmentally conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pipefitting and carpentry methods.
• High school education or equivalent is required.
• Three to five years of maintenance experience or vocational/technical training equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the high-pressure steam boiler plant and related systems.
• Perform safety inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Respond to emergencies and support snow removal as needed.
• Repair and service boilers, HVAC/R and pneumatic systems; ensure comfort and safety for residents and staff.

Scope of Position

The General Maintenance and Shift Technician ensures the safe and efficient operation of the high-pressure steam boiler plant operations, all associated heating and mechanical operations and other systems as necessary. This position performs duties as needed to ensure the comfort and safety of all residents, staff and visitors at the County Complex.The Facilities Operations team is committed to providing the employees and residents at Rockingham County a safe, supported, and environmentally conscious environment. The General Maintenance and Shift Technician is a vital part of our team who services/repairs our oil & wood biomass fired boilers, low- and high-pressure boiler support equipment, steam systems, HVAC/R, and pneumatic systems. They also perform safety inspections, identify & complete repairs, provide preventative maintenance on equipment, buildings, and systems. Further, they respond to fire alarm activations or other emergency situations, such as snow removal, at the County Complex for up to 16 hours.

• Must have a working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pipefitting and carpentry methods and procedures.
• A High School Education and/or the equivalent.
• Three to five years’ experience in industrial and/or commercial maintenance or;
• The equivalent in vocational/technical training plus;
• A minimum of two years demonstrated experience is required.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

• Weekend Premium: $1.50/Hour
