Job Description Overview

1st Shift Maintenance Technician responsible for operation and maintenance of index stretch, blow mold and support equipment. Ensure high‑quality production output that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Serve as primary contact and be accountable for equipment operation, training others in processing, preventative maintenance, and changeovers. Working 12‑hour shift, 2‑2‑3 schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all established safety rules and guidelines, communicate hazards and safety issues to co‑workers and supervisors, and properly use personal protective equipment.
  • Complete all required clean room training and maintain compliance.
  • Observe production, packaging and mechanical equipment—including electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems—to ensure proper and efficient operation.
  • Troubleshoot and repair production, packaging, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment to locate and resolve malfunctions.
  • Dismantle machinery using lockout/tagout procedures, remove defective parts, and repair or replace them with hand tools and power tools.
  • Determine and order appropriate materials and parts needed for equipment service/repair.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and changeovers on all machinery.
  • Use schematics, blueprints, drawings, sketches and manuals to identify machine malfunctions.
  • Inspect product for quality defects, notify the quality technician or supervisor of quality issues, and ensure routine quality checks are performed.
  • Perform all tasks in accordance with safety and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal departments.
  • Maintain housekeeping of assigned areas, applying Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to meet plant goals.
Skills & Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (post‑secondary education in a related technical or vocational field preferred).
  • 2years machinery operator/maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong computer knowledge.
  • Team player with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize work tasks.
  • Effective communication skills at all levels and good interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability to changes in the work environment and ability to deal with unexpected events.
  • Willingness to work all shifts and required overtime.
