Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Technician for a direct-hire role in Carol Stream, IL. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical production equipment to maximize uptime on high-speed packaging lines.

The position requires performing preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and working with PLCs, schematics, and blueprints. It includes union benefits, a 2nd shift, and training milestones with wage progression.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years industrial maintenance experience.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience with 480V systems, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical production equipment (motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes).
• Install/replace electrical components (up to 480V) and troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment.
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic/pneumatic prints.
• Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and document work orders in CMMS.
• Work independently and on production teams with safe practices.

NOW HIRING – DIRECT HIRE – IMMEDIATE START Position: Electro-Mechanical Technician

Location: Carol Stream, IL

Industry: Paper Packaging Manufacturing

Shift: 8-hour shifts (12 consecutive days, alternating weekends off). Must be flexible for days, nights, weekends, and overtime.

Pay: $28.00 - $37.00/hr (+ $1 dollar more per hour training milestones + shift differentials)

Role Summary

Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Technician for a direct-hire, union position. You will perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs on high-speed paper converting and packaging equipment to maximize production uptime.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical production equipment (motors, drives, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, power transmissions).
• Electrical & PLCs: Install/replace electrical components (up to 480V, switches, relays, sensors). Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment (diagnostics only).
• Schematics & Blueprints: Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic/pneumatic prints.
• General Maintenance: Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and facility utility repairs. Document work orders using a CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Installing and repairing all electrical production devices within the plant.
• Performing breakdown repairs, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, etc. on all production equipment, utilities, building/grounds, etc.
• Completing parts requisitions, work orders, time sheets, in Computerized manufacturing Maintenance Management System.
• Electrician disassembles defective electrical equipment, replaces defective or worn parts, and reassembles equipment.
• Responsible for replacing all fuses, light sockets, bulbs and switches.
• Working independently and on production teams.
• Demonstrating safe manufacturing work practices.
• Use PLCs for routine troubleshooting.
• Understand and complete all associated manufacturing paperwork.
• Adhere to preventative/predictive maintenance production schedules.
• Read and work from mechanical and electrical blueprints.
• Other manufacturing duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• strong troubleshooting skills: 480V systems, motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems.
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with hand/power tools and welding equipment.
• Requirement: Must provide your own maintenance tools.
• Experience and resume required to apply.

Shift: Second (3 PM - 11 PM).
