Laurel Towers in Harrisburg, PA, part of Volunteers of America National Services, seeks a Maintenance Technician II to oversee the property's upkeep, preventive tasks, painting and repairs for a safe, attractive environment. The role is full-time, Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm with occasional weekends, paying $18.00 per hour.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, trade/vocational training preferred, 2 years of maintenance experience, and knowledge of building codes; on-call

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Trade or vocational training in related fields preferred.
• Minimum two years full-time maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of state building, plumbing and electrical codes.
• Able to follow oral and written English instructions.
• Ability to use and climb extension ladders; basic machinery/tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, painting and repairs on the property.
• Maintain interior and exterior lighting for safety and usability.
• Schedule and expedite work orders; document tasks.
• Keep storage areas clean and organized.
• Be available for on-call 24-hour maintenance.

About the job:

The Maintenance Tech is responsible for the overall maintenance of the property. Responsible for preventive maintenance, painting, and repairs inside and outside the property to provide a safe, attractive and orderly environment for the benefit, and use enjoyment protection of residents, staff, and visitors.

Required Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Graduate of trade or vocational school, with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC equipment, refrigeration and electricity preferred.

Minimum two (2) years full-time experience in building maintenance to include construction or maintenance of equipment and utilities preferred.

Knowledge of state building, plumbing and electrical codes and ordinances.

Know how to turn the main water valve and power off in case of emergency.

Knowledge of basic machinery and tools.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.

Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for task suck as timekeeping and documentation.

• Make recommendations to Community Administrator on necessary maintenance repairs, preventive maintenance, and property improvements.
• Repair and paint the building exterior as needed.
• Maintain adequate lighting for the interior and exterior of the property
• Schedule and expedite work order request
• Maintain a clean and orderly storage room
• Must be capable of using and climbing an extension ladder to access the roof, windows, and siding to make repairs as needed
• Safety: Know, follow and enforce facility safety rules.
• Complete required training
• Available to work on-call to ensure that twenty-four (24) hour maintenance is provided to the properties.
