Job summary

Laurel Towers in Pennsylvania, part of Volunteers of America National Services, is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to oversee the property's maintenance. This role focuses on preventive maintenance, painting, and repairs to ensure a safe and well-maintained environment for residents and staff.

The position runs full-time Monday through Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm with occasional weekends. Compensation is $18.00 per hour, reflecting the responsibilities and the need for reliable, safety-conscious

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Trade or vocational school graduate preferred with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC equipment, refrigeration and electricity.
• Minimum two years full-time building maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of state building, plumbing and electrical codes.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Make recommendations to the Community Administrator on maintenance repairs and improvements.
• Repair and paint the building exterior as needed.
• Maintain adequate interior and exterior lighting.
• Schedule and expedite work orders.
• Maintain a clean and orderly storage room.
• Capable of using an extension ladder to access roof, windows, and siding.
• Follow facility safety rules and complete required training.
• On-call for 24-hour maintenance as needed.

About the job

The Maintenance Tech is responsible for the overall maintenance of the property. Responsible for preventive maintenance, painting, and repairs inside and outside the property to provide a safe, attractive and orderly environment for the benefit, and use enjoyment protection of residents, staff, and visitors.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of trade or vocational school, with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC equipment, refrigeration and electricity preferred.
• Minimum two (2) years full‑time experience in building maintenance to include construction or maintenance of equipment and utilities preferred.
• Knowledge of state building, plumbing and electrical codes and ordinances.
• Know how to turn the main water valve and power off in case of emergency.
• Knowledge of basic machinery and tools.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for task suck as timekeeping and documentation.

Essentials

• Safety: Know, follow and enforce facility safety rules.
• Complete required training
• Available to work on‑call to ensure that twenty‑four (24) hour maintenance is provided to the properties.
