Job summary

VOANS is seeking a Maintenance Technician I at Eastern Avenue Apartments in Seat Pleasant, MD. You will support day-to-day property operations, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained community for residents.

The role offers on-site work with a schedule of 8:30am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. The position requires a high school diploma and basic maintenance experience, plus English proficiency and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months of full-time experience in building maintenance preferred.
• Proficient in English. Must be able to read and write in English.
• Ability to follow verbal and written English instructions.
• Ability to follow proper safety protocols.
• Know how to shut water valves and electricity off in case of emergency.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Make recommendations to Community Administrator on maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance.
• Repair and paint exterior as needed.
• Maintain adequate interior and exterior lighting.
• Schedule and expedite work orders.
• Maintain a clean and orderly storage room.
• Capable of using an extension ladder to access roof, windows, and siding for repairs.
• Follow safety rules and complete required training.
• Be available to work on-call for 24-hour maintenance.

Maintenance Technician I Job Highlights

What You Bring (Requirements)

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Proficient in English. Must have the ability to read and write in English
• Able to follow both verbal and written English instructions

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of basic machinery and tools
• Construction experience and/or maintenance of equipment and utility experience

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Maintain adequate lighting for the interior and exterior of the property.
• Schedule and expedite work order requests.
• Maintain a clean and orderly storage room.
• Must be capable of using and climbing an extension ladder to access the roof, windows, and siding to make repairs as needed.
• Safety: Know, follow and enforce facility safety rules.
• Complete required training.
• Available to work on-call to ensure that twenty-four (24) hour maintenance is provided to the properties.
