Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is seeking a maintenance technician to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on plant and equipment across the Newport News Shipbuilding facilities.

You will work in trades including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, sheet metal, and welding, using blueprints and diagrams to guide repairs. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with multiple years of related experience; technical certificates may substitute.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with 6 years related experience or further education.
• Apprentice/Associate degree with 4 years related experience; certifications may be required.
• An approved technical/trade certificate may substitute for a standard high school diploma/GED requirement

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment.
• Work in one or more maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, welding.
• Uses hand and power tools and tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications
