Job summary

Post Brothers in North Bergen, NJ is seeking a Maintenance Technician I–III to manage the upkeep and operations of our community, ensuring a safe, clean living environment and reliable building systems.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or technical training, at least two years in maintenance, and the ability to lift heavy loads. The role includes on-call duties, work orders, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or formal technical training.
• 2 years working experience in maintenance or construction.
• Entry-level knowledge of building programs, including inventory control, preventative maintenance, and work order record keeping.
• Entry-level knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment including HVAC, plumbing repairs, carpentry, painting, electric systems and landscaping.
• Meets all physical requirements to perform all job functions and responsibilities.
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation required.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting (at least 60 lbs), climb ladders up to 24 ft, stand and walk for 8 hours, and perform other physically demanding duties as directed.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, colleagues and supervisors in spoken and written English to ensure successful completion of job duties.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs maintenance and repairs that do not require a license or under supervision.
• Completes repairs, troubleshoots systems, and preventative maintenance promptly.
• Follow oral and written instructions and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Participates in on-call emergency rotation and responds to emergencies as needed.
• Completes work orders in vacant units and ensures turnovers meet standards.
• Uses maintenance program to track work orders, preventive maintenance, inventory, and history.
• Ensures tools and equipment are in good condition and reports unsafe situations.
• Handles groundswork such as trash pickup, sweeping and light landscaping; removes snow and ice.
• Coordinates special projects, assists during events, sets up, moves equipment and breaks down.
• Adheres to company policies, OSHA, ADA, Fair Housing, and applicable laws.
