Job summary

International Paper is hiring for a Maintenance A at the Newton Container facility in Newton, NC. The role pays $32.09 per hour on a 2-2-3 schedule with a pension plan and full-time benefits.

You will perform diverse maintenance tasks, operate metalworking tools, and support safe, efficient production. Ideal candidates bring strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge, plus a proven ability to troubleshoot and collaborate with teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong safety, attendance and quality focus.
• Knowledge of lubrication, hydraulics, welding, pneumatics, electrical/electronics.
• Ability to lift up to heavy parts and operate hand tools.
• Willingness to work 2-2-3 schedule and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Observe and diagnose mechanical devices in operation and identify causes of trouble.
• Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts.
• Inspect parts for dimensional changes and wear.
• Adjust and calibrate devices and control instruments.
• Repair or replace faulty parts and install components.
• Set up and operate metalworking tools (drill press, grinder, band saw, milling machine, welder).
• Move heavy equipment with mechanical aids and ensure safe handling.
• Perform startup, lubrication, and routine maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical systems and replace damaged wiring.
