Maintenance Technician
Summary
We are a boat manufacturer in Vonore, TN, seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform routine maintenance in a large manufacturing facility. Maintenance tasks performed are in a variety of skilled areas including welding, machinery troubleshooting, repair, electrical troubleshooting, and HVAC. Responsibilities may include troubleshooting and repairing air, resin, and gel equipment.
Responsibilities
- Support the welding shop schedule and repairs.
- Apply high energy, self‑motivation, and initiative to learn and be trained on various types of equipment and maintenance techniques.
- Be able to troubleshoot, rebuild, and repair production‑related equipment.
- Handle daily job duties that are varied and dynamic, requiring high levels of customer service.
- Track workload via daily schedules and assignments, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Work hours: typically four (4) days per week at 10‑hour days, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Thursday, with schedule adjustments as demands require.
Job Requirements
- Welding experience is a must.
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Three to five years of commercial or industrial facility maintenance experience, including machinery repair and electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience with CNC equipment is a plus.
- Strong mechanical and electrical background; experience with electrical motor controls and programming is a strong plus.
- Experience reading blueprints and schematics and building to specifications.
- Certification required in forklift and high‑lift (genie boom) operations.
- Must be able to travel by foot throughout the facility, lift overhead within safety limits, work at heights (ladders, rooftops, booms, lifts, platforms), and work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to use a wide variety of hand tools, powered and manual.
- Ability to read measurement devices, including ohm/voltage meters, measuring tapes, calipers, and various equipment gauges.
Safety Requirements
- Must desire and be ambitious to work safely at all times and report hazards to supervisor immediately.
- Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as designated, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
- Must be able to understand and complete the OSHA questionnaire, pass a spirometer test, and wear a respirator where required.
- Must be able to physically perform the job’s requirements (lifting, bending, climbing stairs, standing, etc.) with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Must understand all safety‑related documents, worksite rules, equipment operating instructions, safety management systems, and health and safety requirements.
Working Conditions
- Work in a large manufacturing facility with heavy machinery and thermal, chemical, and mechanical hazards.
- Require use of PPE, forklift, and high‑lift operations; must maintain cleanliness and safety compliance at all times.
- Manually handle and transport materials throughout the facility while operating equipment in varied weather conditions.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is hourly. Base pay varies with job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, short‑term incentive program, and long‑term incentive program.
