Hilton Garden Inn Outer Banks in Kitty Hawk, NC is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance of guest rooms, public spaces, and equipment, ensuring brand standards and guest satisfaction. Shift is full-time, 3pm–11pm.

You will work with the Chief Engineer, handle work orders, basic plumbing/electrical tasks, and upkeep of pool and fitness areas, with opportunities for training and employee benefits.

Position is full-time, year-round. Shift hours would be 3pm-11pm.

Essential Functions

• Maintain work order system, as well as completing work orders on a timely basis.
• Work with Chief Engineer and Management team to identify and accomplish all technical and skilled related projects.
• Guest room repair issues (caulking, tile repair, painting, appliances, etc)
• Assist in the monitoring of Hotel key control system.
• Carpet repair; floor tile repair.
• Basic plumbing repairs.
• Basic electrical repairs.
• Painting, minor roof repairs, and other exterior projects.
• Pool and exercise room / equipment repairs.
• Complete guest room checklist as scheduled.
• Report completed guest room care maintenance to Chief Engineer.
• Maintain a current inventory of parts and materials.
• Answer Radio and HelloShift when summoned. Check HelloShift consistently, mark complete when job is finished. If unable to complete/finish; leave reason in comment box.
• Check exterior grounds, fences, lighting for upkeep requirements as needed.
• AM shift: dump exterior trash starting with courtyard. PM shift: dump exterior trash in the evening prior to end of shift.
• Knows all safety procedures, remaining calm and alert during emergency situations and during heavy hotel activity. Required to follow all security and privacy procedures to protect guest information.
• Straighten out courtyard, pool deck, and upper deck furniture.
• Preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment, clean coils and filters as needed.
• Responsible for pool maintenance procedures; read and supply chemicals to system.
• Assist Chief Engineer in identifying persistent, consistent, or major maintenance problems.
• Communicate to the requesting party the completion of maintenance requests.
• Carry our any reasonable request courteously and politely.
• When required, report to Hotel in bad weather conditions for maintenance of Hotel's exterior (snow shoveling, ice melting, etc.)
• Responsible for checking in with Front Desk on shift arrival and also before shift departure to ensure there are no outstanding maintenance requests.

Technical Skills

• Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Able to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
• Able to communicate effectively with other associates, as well as guests.
• Able and willing to respond to emergency situations on short notice.
• Individuals must be service and detail oriented.
• Must comply with all department, hotel, and corporate standard operating procedures.
• Responsible for knowing Hotel emergency procedures.
• Be readily available/ approachable for all guests.
• Answer guest questions regarding Hotel and local area facilities and services.
• Take proactive approaches when dealing with guest concerns. Follow property specific second effort and recovery plan.
• Extend professionalism and courtesy to guests at all times.

Other Requirements

• The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and associates may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
• Carry out all reasonable requests by leadership team.
• Comply with department uniform and appearance standards.
• Must be capable of how to read, write, and speak English fluently.
