Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials NA is hiring for a maintenance technician to inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on complex machinery and equipment on the warehouse floor. The role encompasses troubleshooting electrical and mechanical problems and performing timely repairs to keep production moving.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in an industrial maintenance environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
  • Ability to read and write English and perform basic math.
  • Basic computer knowledge for data entry.
  • Ability to use tape measures, scales and gauges.
  • Obtain and maintain current certification to operate material handling equipment.
  • Safety minded and able to work with PPE on site.

Job Description
1st shift paying up to $38 per hour
Key Accountabilities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, and similar problems on machinery/equipment and perform timely repairs on all equipment.
  • Establish appropriate frequency and perform regular preventive maintenance activities on all machinery/equipment in the facility.
  • Perform timely facility/building maintenance and minor repairs, and maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Dismantle defective machines/equipment and install new or repaired equipment.
  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and repairs.
  • Coordinate and make recommendations on work-related contracts and services.
  • Supervise outside contractors when needed for mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance.
  • Participate, support, and comply with all health, safety, quality, and Lean initiatives and requirements.
  • Complete all job duties in a manner that does not put him/herself or other individuals in an unsafe situation and wear all PPE (personal protective equipment) when required.
  • Assist in any duties to support the operations, as requested by supervisor or manager.
  • This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Demonstrate mechanical and technical aptitude
  • 3-5 years experience in an industrial, maintenance environment
  • Formal degree or certificate in a technical area or related field required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
  • Little or no supervisor assistance is required
  • Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, climb, reach and lift up to 40 lbs
  • Ability to read and write English and perform basic math problems
  • Basic computer knowledge to complete data entry
  • Ability to use basic measurement instruments such as tape measure, scales, and gauges
  • Obtain and maintain current certification to operate material handling equipment such as, forklift, side-loader, 4-directional lift, or cherry picker
