Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials Services in Park City, KS, is seeking a Material Handler on the warehouse floor to apply metal to customer orders, verify specifications, and maintain safe, clean work areas while entering data accurately.

You will operate cranes and forklifts, inspect materials, set up equipment per work orders, assist with lean and quality initiatives, and collaborate with sales to clarify orders; safety comes first.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Perform basic math skills.
  • Safety mindset and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Preferred: warehouse experience in metals, forklift experience, handheld measuring tools, computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
  • Set up equipment to run material per work orders.
  • Enter/delete material identification tags per instructions.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and orderly processing area.
  • Report changes to orders to sales representatives.
  • Assist with lean and/or quality activities.
  • Train others when required.
  • Work on warehouse floor around heavy machinery.

Job description

Job Summary

Apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Key Accountabilities
  • Must be certified in the material handler position.
  • Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment.
  • Pull, inspect and verify product before processing.
  • Properly and safely set up equipment to run material to set up note specifications.
  • Process set up notes according to work order specifications.
  • Verify that product meets set up note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements (sampling plan).
  • Communicate with appropriate sales representative regarding changes/clarification to orders.
  • Perform equipment preventive maintenance; Perform general clean-up.
  • Properly enter/delete material identification tags per written instructions.
  • Assist in the packaging of material per written work instructions and work order.
  • Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition.
  • Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements.
  • Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material.
  • Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Complete job responsibilities in a manner that does not put him/herself or other individuals in an unsafe situation.
  • Train others when required.
  • Assist in any activities related to lean and/or quality.
  • This is a position that works directly on the warehouse floor on or around heavy machinery.

Minimum Requirements
  • An individual must posses a high school diploma/ GED
  • Ability to read and write
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs

Preferred Requirements
  • Previous warehouse experience - especially in the metals industry
  • Previous forklift experience
  • Use of hand held measuring tools
  • Computer literate.
