Job summary

State of Indiana, Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility, is seeking a Maintenance Foreman to lead preventive maintenance and repairs across building trades. The role supervises skilled workers and may oversee inmate crews, reporting to the maintenance supervisor.

A degree is not required, and a valid driver’s license is needed for site operations. The position starts around $42,900 and may be commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting trades.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and other remediation plans and documents.
• Thorough knowledge of standard practices, processes, materials, procedures, and the ability to use tools and equipment of the various trades.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards, MSDS, hazards and safety precautions.
• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals in terms of equipment, man hours and costs.
• Ability to delegate work, set clear direction, and manage workflow.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
• Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.
• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements.
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
• Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.
