Job summary

State of Indiana in Madison, IN seeks a Maintenance Foreman to lead preventive maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry and grounds work at Madison Correctional Facility. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7.5 hours, with supervision of incarcerated individuals when needed.

The role provides advancement opportunities into supervisory positions; strong safety practices and customer service are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Broad knowledge of electrical systems, carpentry, plumbing and painting.
• Ability to plan, schedule and supervise job sites.
• Ability to fill in for other foreman to ensure operation.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints and remediation plans.
• Thorough knowledge of OSHA standards and MSDS.
• Ability to plan and estimate project proposals including equipment and hours.
• Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
• Oversee preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities.
• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements for self and team.
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees for growth.
• Set expectations, measure progress, and evaluate performance.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is essential.
