Silgan Closures in Champaign, IL is seeking a Maintenance Support Technician to join the day shift Monday–Friday. You will assist maintenance technicians with preventive maintenance, inspections, and documentation to keep equipment running smoothly.

This role supports the parts room, stock control, and coordination with contractors. The job emphasizes safety, GMP awareness, and teamwork in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Manufacturing, warehouse, or forklift experience preferred.
• Forklift experience strongly preferred.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to use computers, tablets, scanners, and other electronic devices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Manage inventory and assist in the parts room.
• Assist with work order completion and documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness of maintenance shop and parts room.
• Assist with contractor coordination and plant projects.
• Comply with GMP, Food Safety, and HACCP-related programs.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Support preventive maintenance activities.

Position Summary

Assist maintenance technicians with preventive maintenance activities. Perform basic equipment inspections and report deficiencies. Assist with work order completion and documentation. Maintain organization and cleanliness of the maintenance shop and parts room.Receive, stock, and issue maintenance spare parts. Assist with contractor coordination and plant projects as directed. Help in other job functions as required.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Perform routine and emergency maintenance, including building and grounds.
2. Perform inventory and help in the parts room.
3. Perform minor building, office, and grounds repairs as needed
4. Clean up the production area and machinery.
5. Help with general maintenance tasks within the plant.
6. Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.
7. Assist maintenance technicians with preventive maintenance activities.
8. Perform basic equipment inspections and report deficiencies.
9. Help in other job functions as required.
10. Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety, and HACCP Pre-requisite Programs related to activities performed for this position.
