Job summary

HELP USA in New York is seeking an Assistant Supervisor/Mechanic for one of our facilities, located on Wards Island. You will oversee maintenance and repair functions and ensure the physical plant stays well maintained, safe, and compliant with safety standards.

You will supervise maintenance staff, identify deficiencies, train porters, perform repairs, and manage materials. A High School diploma, supervisory experience, and ability to read blueprints are expected; HVAC or related certification

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Supervisory experience in building trades or maintenance.
• Ability to use tools and equipment for building physical plants.
• HVAC basics; HVAC certification preferred.
• Ability to read diagrams, shop drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Valid US driver's license required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Microsoft Office proficiency a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance staff, assign and coordinate their work.
• Identify physical plant deficiencies and implement corrective actions.
• Train the Porters to meet our quality standards.
• Make repairs as needed.
• Adhere to strict OSHA compliance.
• Inventory and dispense materials and supplies.
