Job summary

NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities in New York State seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a skilled maintenance crew across multi-community residential properties. You will supervise trades, review requests, confirm scope, and coordinate workflow per design documents.

You will enforce safety procedures, develop training, inspect contractor work, participate in annual budgets, and use a computerized work order system to ensure efficient labor and material use.

Qualifications

• One year of trade experience after apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, blueprints and specifications.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License.
• Willingness to travel within the district and NY State to assist other districts with special projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and plans work for subordinate staff.
• Reviews job orders, blueprints, and specifications and, as required, visits the project site to determine dimensions, materials, and labor required to complete the project.
• Assigns staff to the project and provides instructions and plans.
• Meets with supervisors representing other trades involved in the project to coordinate activities and schedule work to ensure efficient utilization of staff, materials, and equipment and completion on schedule.
• Observes and inspects work to ensure codes and regulations are followed and work is performed per plan.
• Inspects work performed by outside contractors for conformance with project specifications.
• Prepares and maintains written records of work performed and accounts for labor and material used.
