Maintenance Supervisor - Food Manufacturing
Kent Quality Foods, a premier manufacturer of specialty meat products, is seeking an experienced professional to lead technical operations at its Grand Rapids facility in the position of Maintenance Supervisor. SUMMARY: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance department and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement problem-solving techniques with mechanics and operators to address ongoing issues.
- Coordinate with the Manager, Planner, and Mechanics to prioritize work orders.
- Coach Mechanics on key issues affecting plant performance.
- Build teamwork among mechanics to facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Manage maintenance of plant equipment, including machine tools, buildings, refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, gas, water, air systems, sewer and waste disposal, fire sprinkler systems, parking facilities, landscaping, snow removal, and janitorial services.
- Plan, layout, schedule work, and delegate tasks to maintenance technicians.
- Hire, train, monitor, discipline, evaluate, and develop employees. Assist with diagnosing and resolving complex problems. Enforce organizational policies and conduct rules.
- Source outside vendors as needed and establish project scopes.
- Collaborate with engineering and project management for capital improvement projects.
- Maintain reporting and record-keeping systems for the department.
- Ensure good housekeeping and compliance with safety and sanitation regulations.
- Develop, implement, and adhere to SOPs.
- Establish qualifications and training standards for maintenance staff.
- Interface with regulatory agencies such as USDA, OSHA, EPA, DEQ, and Fire Department.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of related supervisory experience in a food processing environment.
- Associate's Degree or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical skills with knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and PLC systems. Ability to perform root cause analysis and problem resolution.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Internet, email, and database systems.
- Knowledge of maintenance tracking software preferred.
- Effective interpersonal skills and a strong presence on the floor.
- Ability to lift and move over 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
