Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to oversee our branch maintenance program, supervise shop personnel, and assist with daily tasks.

You will implement preventative maintenance, keep safety records, manage inventories, and coordinate with Operations to schedule repairs. Experience in shop supervision, DOT certs, CDL, and tools is preferred; strong safety focus required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• DOT certification for air brake inspection and Annual Vehicle Inspections required.
• CDL Class B license within 6 months of hire desirable.
• Prior supervisory experience in a shop or maintenance setting desired.
• Full set of hand tools required.
• Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise all maintenance department employees and plan work for shop personnel.
• Perform repairs to vehicles and equipment and follow up on repairs.
• Establish and enforce a preventative maintenance program and schedule work.
• Maintain safety and vehicle inspection records per regulations and company policy.
• Ensure shop and grounds comply with safety standards and company policies.
• Schedule safety meetings and document attendees and topics.
• Recruit, interview, hire and train shop personnel; evaluate and discipline as needed.
• Coordinate with Operations to release equipment from service for inspections, service and repair.
• Conform with all laws, regulations and directives; manage inventories and related reports.
