Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor will assist with all maintenance activities to ensure maximum operational potential is realized for the entire plant operation. This includes functions in Maintenance Business Management, Maintenance Materials Inventory (MRO), Maintenance Recruit to Retire, Manufacturing Process Reliability, and Equipment Reliability, e.g., departmental budgets, computerized maintenance management systems, preventive/predictive and corrective maintenance programs. The role also involves technical skills management in electrical, electronics, controls programming, mechanical systems (process equipment, packaging equipment), waste treatment, stockroom, building and grounds, utilities systems including but not limited to boiler and ammonia refrigeration. Assistance with the development, coordination, and execution of maintenance-related capital budget items in concert with engineering is also required.

Key Responsibilities of the Role
  1. Direct maintenance personnel to ensure all systems operate at their highest capability to meet production schedules, quality, costs, and schedule priorities.
  2. Improve reliability, maintenance, and processing methods to reduce costs and avoid loss of production due to equipment malfunction or failure time.
  3. Determine equipment capabilities, safety, and operational condition in coordination with other Supervisors and technicians.
  4. Develop cost-effective preventive maintenance procedures to increase the operational life of equipment.
  5. Seek and implement continuous process improvements through equipment modifications.
  6. Assist in developing system and operational standards and corrective actions.
  7. Develop, implement, and review site-specific maintenance logs regularly.
  8. Coordinate and supervise corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with company procedures, practices, and financial considerations.
  9. Provide maintenance training, including the effective utilization of maintenance logs and routine maintenance specific to the facility and equipment operations.
  10. Assist workers in diagnosing machinery malfunctions.
  11. Study production schedules and estimate worker hours for job completion.
  12. Assist in preparing requisitions for spare parts inventory management.
  13. Maintain departmental operating budget effectively.
  14. Assist with safety training, safety meetings, and safety committee participation, supporting safety projects and the 9-key element process.
  15. Evaluate long-term needs for major projects and factory improvements.
  16. Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe, operable condition, arranging for replacements or upgrades as needed.
  17. Establish procedures and contacts for timely repairs of equipment.
  18. Direct maintenance workers in electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and utility systems maintenance and repair.
  19. Oversee dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
  20. Develop employee relations through communication and participation in safety and ergonomics committees.
  21. Analyze production downtime reports, identify opportunities, and initiate actions to increase efficiencies.
  22. Participate in QRMP audits and assist in developing procedures and corrective actions.
  23. Lead the implementation of the QRMP system and standards to achieve targeted RCR.
  24. Partner with business leaders on process improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma, Lean, and KHMS.
  25. Supervise maintenance staff performance and employee development.
  26. Communicate with outside agencies such as contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  27. Coordinate closely with the Maintenance Manager and other team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related Technical field is strongly preferred.
  • 1-5 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems.
  • Experience with TPM systems is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and utility systems including ammonia refrigeration and boiler systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cost systems and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs is advantageous.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including days, afternoons, midnights, and weekends.

Salary Range: $77,800 - $97,300

Bonus: Performance-based bonus as per plan.

Compensation will consider internal equity, geographic region, experience, and other factors.
