We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a team of 12–15 skilled trades professionals (such as electricians, machine repair technicians, toolmakers, pipefitters, and millwrights) within an advanced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring uptime of automated equipment and manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical problem-solving skills, effective leadership capabilities, and prior experience in unionized settings.
Key Responsibilities :
- Supervise skilled trades personnel responsible for repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated machining and furnace equipment, including OD & ID grinders, lathes, and heat treat systems.
- Respond to and manage daily production maintenance needs, including unplanned breakdowns and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Utilize Maximo or similar systems for tracking work orders and maintenance planning.
- Maintain compliance with safety and housekeeping standards as well as National and Local UAW labor agreements.
- Conduct technical assessments, recommend solutions, and ensure all results are communicated effectively.
- Ensure team accountability and demonstrate managerial courage in addressing performance and conduct issues.
- Collaborate across manufacturing and engineering departments to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Uphold Global Manufacturing System (GMS) principles and SPQRCE (Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, Environment) performance measures.
Work Schedule :
- Required to work any shift (rotating or fixed) :
- 1st Shift : 5 : 15 AM – 2 : 00 PM
- 2nd Shift : 1 : 15 PM – 10 : 00 PM
- 3rd Shift : 10 : 00 PM – 6 : 00 AM
- Common for team to work 12-hour days, with weekend shifts required (typically 2 weekends on, 1 weekend off).
- Flexibility is essential; this is not a suitable role for candidates seeking standard weekday hours only.
Required Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience or 5+ months as a GM per diem group leader.
- Skilled trades background with understanding of equipment and repair processes.
- Prior experience in unionized manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in reading electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints.
- Familiarity with systems such as Maximo (CMMS) and Kronos (timekeeping).
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
- Comfortable with computers and software including Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience supervising trades in high-volume, automated manufacturing.
- Knowledge of GMS and lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience coordinating across engineering and operations teams.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to make decisions in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
- High level of integrity and commitment to teamwork.
- Onsite only – remote work is not available.
- Fast-paced, high-demand production environment with strong teamwork culture.
- Physical requirements must be met (Fitness-for-Work exam required).
