Job summary

Neil Jones Food Company seeks a Maintenance Supervisor at the Northwest Packing facility in Vancouver, WA to supervise preventive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, and utility systems and to support production management.

The role requires leadership of a large workforce, adherence to safety and quality, and the ability to schedule and coordinate repairs during peak fresh-pack season (July–October).

Qualifications

• Associate degree in manufacturing operations or a related field is required.
• At least 2 years of maintenance supervision experience in a food processing environment.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems and troubleshooting.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and work extended hours during peak season.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of plant equipment and facilities to ensure continuous production.
• Direct troubleshooting and root-cause analysis to eliminate recurring faults.
• Schedule repairs, maintenance, and installations within the department.
• Support startup/shutdown and CIP processes.
• Ensure equipment meets safety and quality standards.

Job description

The Neil Jones Food Company is an industry leader, processing superior quality fresh-packed, vine-ripened California tomatoes and Pacific Northwest fruit. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, NJFC has been providing our nation’s discerning food service, retail, industrial and institutional customers with the finest quality canned and pouched products for over 50 years. NJFC operates three production facilities: Northwest Packing in Vancouver, WA.; San Benito Foods, in Hollister, CA; and Toma-Tek in Firebaugh, CA.

We are seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to be responsible for providing supervisory and technical support for the Plant’s preventive maintenance program, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, steam, water, vacuum, and compressed air systems. Supports production management by overseeing throughput, employee safety, labor effectiveness, and product quality. Supervises personnel, promotes productivity, manages departmental resources within budget, and supports efficient production operations. This role is located at our Northwest Packing plant in Vancouver, WA.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervises operation, installation, repair and maintenance of plant equipment and systems under the direction of the department manager.
• Troubleshoots, directs and coordinates with staff to effectively correct malfunctions with equipment, through determining root cause and eliminating repeated failures.
• Schedules for repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operation within, but not limited to, an assigned department.
• Supports operations in equipment start-up, shut down and CIP processes.
• Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in manufacturing operations, engineering, management, or related field; bachelor’s degree preferred and or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the key responsibilities for this position.
• 2 years’ experience directly related to maintenance/production supervisory with process analysis and troubleshooting experience.
• 2 years’ experience in food processing environment, preferably in the tomato and/or fruit industry, including aseptic processing as well as formulated processing.
• 2 years’ experience supervising a large group of employees.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test, work extended hours, weekends, and any shift assigned during the fresh pack season, typically July to early October.
