Job description

The Piedmont’s Kings Mountain State Park offers miles of forested trails, fishing lakes, and is adjacent to Kings Mountain National Military Park, a site of Revolutionary War significance. The park hosts regular special events, including living history demonstrations every November at the replica 1800s Piedmont farm. Overnight accommodations, including campgrounds and equestrian facilities, are available at Kings Mountain.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Assists the Park Manager with overall maintenance activities of Kings Mountain State Park, including grounds and facilities upkeep, and supervises staff and projects.

1. Supervises maintenance staff and personnel.
2. Assists in training maintenance personnel.
3. Inspects and maintains grounds equipment and facilities.
4. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies.
5. Requisitions supplies, services, and equipment.
6. Maintains general knowledge of the park’s natural and historical significance and the role of different departments in customer service.
7. Promotes teamwork within the State Park Service and represents the office in agency teams.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, three years of grounds maintenance experience, and relevant trade licenses or competencies in electrical, plumbing, and carpentry. Valid South Carolina driver’s license, ability to operate office equipment, and physical ability to perform job duties are required. The position involves working in various weather conditions, lifting, walking, standing, and working at heights. Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays is necessary.

Location: Kings Mountain State Park

Full-time, 40 hours/week, rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
