Job summary

Allied Reliability is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead a crew of Millwrights, Electricians, Welders and Contractors at our Seaboard facility. This full-time role reports to the Maintenance Superintendent and focuses on safety, efficiency, and meeting budgets.

The ideal candidate has journeyman certification or millwright experience, strong leadership, and proficiency in Microsoft Office; a two- or four-year degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of industrial experience.
• Journeyman Electrician or Millwright background required.
• Leadership and strong communication skills.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with sawmill equipment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Achieving maintenance goals with safety as priority.
• Support troubleshooting and observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met.
• Manage department costs and key metrics to optimize unit cost.
• Maintenance planning and coordinating PM routes.
• Communicate goals and instructions effectively.
• Supervise maintenance and cleanup personnel on varying schedules.
• Manage contractor safety through active leadership.
• Maintain sawmill equipment and related systems.
• Oversee safety programs and field risk assessments.
• Arrange workforce training and mentor apprentices.
• Plan improvement projects and manage parts with purchaser.
• Schedule and attendance management; periodic weekend coverage.
• Inspect completed work.

Job description

The successful candidate will provide leadership, training, and development to hourly personnel by managing the process flow, resources and workforce to meet and exceed established budgets and performance objectives.
Reporting directly to the Maintenance Superintendent in this full-time role, the successful candidate will lead a maintenance crew of Millwrights, Electricians, Welders and Contractors. Higher consideration will be granted to those who have previous experience in the wood remanufacturing sector in a Sawmill, Planer Mill or with forest products.

What You Will Do

• Achieving Maintenance goals with the highest regard for employee safety
• Capable of supporting troubleshooting & observations of machine centers with shift supervisors and other maintenance staff to ensure production and quality standards are met
• Managing the department cost in an aggressive manner assuring optimum manufacturing unit cost; develop and educate key metrics.
• Maintenance Planning, planning non-emergency maintenance, coordinating PM routes
• Effectively communicating goals and/or instructions
• Managing conflicts
• Supervising Maintenance and Cleanup personnel on varying schedules
• Managing contractor safety through active leadership.
• Maintenance of sawmill equipment (this includes but is not limited to De-Barkers, Gang Edgers, Trimmer, Sorter, Stacker, Conveyors, Chippers, Blowers, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems)
• Safety of the crew (Lock-Out Procedures, assisting with and verifying Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA), Safety Audits)
• Arrange WF Training for and mentoring apprentices
• Creating and planning improvement projects
• Managing parts with the purchaser
• Scheduling and attendance
• Will include periodic weekend coverage
• Inspecting completed work

What You Will Need

• Prior Journeyman Electrician or Millwright
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Well organized
• Minimum of five years (plus) of industrial experience
• Leadership and communication skills
• Two or Four-year degree preferred
• Prior Supervisory experience preferred
