Description
As a Maintenance Supervisor with Liberty Packaging, you will be responsible for leading and developing a Maintenance team in their performance of day-to-day operations. Duties include working with employees, providing constructive feedback and coaching, organizing workflow, and analyzing the efficiency of our maintenance processes. This position is accountable for achieving maintenance results in a safe manner that aligns with our company's values and objectives.
This position reports to the Plant Manager and is located at our Phoenix, AZ manufacturing facility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Manage day-to-day operations by leading teams within a maintenance department, including overseeing business objectives, employee placement, providing direction, guiding teams through problem solving and production challenges. Ensure maintenance business objectives are met (safety compliance, preventative maintenance, storeroom accuracy, annual budget, and annual inspection compliance).
- Lead department or work center teams through execution of observation-based safety programs, emphasizing the importance of safety hazard identification and proactive safety measures. Conduct regular safety huddles to communicate initiatives, coach safe practices, and recognize safety accomplishments and behaviors.
- Support site safety investigations by actively participating in maintaining a safe work environment, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.
- Ensure consistent adherence to established routines and performance standards by effectively coaching and disciplining employees, conducting timely reviews, and maintaining accurate timekeeping records, while reinforcing our culture of Caring, Innovation, Trust, and Excellence.
- Drive continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives by identifying, managing, and assisting with projects, actively monitoring goals, and facilitating teamwork to cultivate a culture focused on continuous improvement within the organization.
- Coach, mentor, and ensure knowledge is shared across the team, ensure effective training delivery, provide timely feedback, and identify and develop high-potential staff.
- Proactively escalate issues to facility leadership within internal departments to anticipate challenges and minimize impact to our customers.
- Collaborate seamlessly across business and manufacturing floor teams, demonstrating strong communication and cross-collaboration skills to ensure smooth operation and alignment across departments.
- Support LDI culture initiatives and promote engagement/involvement in Safety and Environmental meetings, Community involvement meetings, special projects, and assignments.
- Develop and oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment uptime and compliance with operational goals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, tool & die, and hydraulic system issues in a timely manner.
- Schedule and prioritize maintenance work orders using maintenance management system software; monitor completion, track equipment history, and report on performance metrics.
- Manage and maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies, ensuring readiness for emergency and routine maintenance.
- Monitor labor utilization and coordinate scheduling, including overtime and on-call rotations, to meet operational demands efficiently.
- Support company-wide initiatives such as Lean, 5S, Kaizen events, and sustainability efforts.
- Must be capable of collaborating with internal (ES) and external contractors.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution and 3+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing facility or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1+ years' supervisory, team lead, and/or project leadership experience.
- Understanding of CMMS software or equivalent systems.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours, as required by business needs.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS- Bachelor's degree (e.g., Business/Operations Management, Engineering, or related field) or Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.
- Demonstrated strong communication skills.
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
- Strong technical knowledge in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Strong process/business acumen; Results-driven.

- Strong attention to detail, measuring with accuracy, and tool or equipment knowledge.

- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen).
- Experience with ERP system, JD Edwards, is a plus.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe starting base salary range for this position is $70,960 - $88,700 per year. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay at the time of posting. Pay may vary based on education, skills, experience, or location. Some positions may qualify for bonuses.
