SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the objectives of the Maintenance department through the Maintenance team members assigned to the position. Supports team objectives by providing adequate resources and materials necessary to work safely and maintain a high level of machine and utility reliability within the annual budget plan. Provides leadership through example, motivates individuals, builds team spirit and counsels associates to achieve excellence through employee engagement. Ensures compliance with occupational health and safety, food quality and personnel policy compliance and supports implementation and progress of continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring and annual objectives. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Conduct regular safety contacts and observations to ensure all tasks and facility operations meet safety standards and promote a culture of proactive hazard prevention
- Demonstrate strong leadership by fostering a positive team culture and actively developing the technical skills and professional growth of direct reports.
- Prioritize a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures. Up to and including accident investigations.
- Meets with Maintenance Team daily discussing KPS, KAI, Shift Round Reviews, downtime and prevention measures. Will follow Maintenance Meeting agenda.
- Meets maintenance operational standards by contributing maintenance information to strategic plans and reviews and resolving problems.
- Meets maintenance financial standards by providing annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective actions.
- Evaluates functionality and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by conferring with operating departments; identifying problems and requirements.
- Maintains function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by implementing/executing a preventative maintenance program; operating and testing systems and equipment; restoring, repairing, rebuilding or replacing faulty or inoperative components and parts.
- Improves function and reliability of facility systems and associated equipment by studying performance results; identifying, recommending and implementing changes, expansions, modifications, and additions.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement robust corrective and preventative actions that drive continuous improvement
- Effectively communicate complex technical information in a clear and accessible manner to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring understanding and alignment across all levels of the organization.
- Work with Maintenance storeroom to evaluate spare part inventory, adjusting min/max quantities.
- Understand and apply DDS (Daily Direction Setting) standards to drive operational discipline, ensure alignment on daily priorities, and support improvements.
- Reviews and critiques PM program on scheduled or event triggered basis and make necessary adjustments to machine center PM cycles, and tasks.
- Completes shift reports daily; labor utilization; PM Reviews; etc.
- Drives team to 95% PM completion rate daily.
- Meets with Maintenance Planners engaging in strategic planning, scheduling of work orders, and PM reviews.
- Meets with Maintenance Manager discussing improvement progress; PM reviews and evaluations; Action List.
- Assures completion of PSM Requirements; Round Log Sheets; Ammonia system safety issues; accidental release reporting; Accident investigations.
- Assures Maintenance Team Training 2 hours monthly completion; document training topics and hours.
- Provides training, assignments, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and corrective actions; communicates job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; adhering to policies and procedures.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Vocational training with emphasis on controls and automation is preferred.
- BS degree in engineering technology or a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in manufacturing with focus on maintenance is preferred.
- 3-5 years leadership experience in a Maintenance role is preferred
- Strategic Planning, PLC / Control troubleshooting, Technical Leadership, Technical Understanding, Equipment Maintenance, Teamwork, Job Knowledge is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in the use of CMMS software; gathering, reviewing, analyzing data.
- Strong knowledge of computer systems including MS Office, WMS and. Ability to learn new job-related software.
- Excellent attention to details and accuracy required.
- Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.
- Great work attitude, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.
- Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.
- Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.
- Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
