Performs advanced-level supervisory and administrative work coordinating multiple utilities field maintenance and repair crews; plans, directs, and supervises utilities operations in a designated area of the County. Manage the meter preventative maintenance program using the meter examination work orders and meter inspection templates. Update the GIS data for meters through this process. Repair and replace equipment based on the PM program data or the Beacon data. Beacon is the system of record for the Badger meters and collects data regarding tampers, errors, communication issues, continuous flow, and alarms with the new meter equipment. Performs employee performance evaluations, frequent checks on fieldwork schedules, and purchasing of equipment while maintaining budget requirements.
This Maintenance Supervisor position is located at: 6730 142nd Avenue, Largo, FL 33771. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
What Will You Do?
·Supervises, trains, assigns, and evaluates the work of employees assigned to the work group.
·Manages the preventative maintenance program of the Utilities department meters.
·Develop a life cycle plan and cost-effectiveness of repair versus replacement.
·Examines meter installations and endpoint installations as needed.
·Manage the meter warranty process.
·Reverse flow monitoring management in Beacon.
·Answers consumer inquiries as required.
·Ensures that adequate amounts and types of equipment and materials are available for project completion and constantly monitors and checks safety practices and procedures.
·Requisitions and maintains replacement part stock for completion of repairs.
·Reviews and performs contract management on contracts about maintenance and equipment.
·Coordinates with other agencies, departments, and division units or sections to ensure proper support activities or joint projects are accomplished.
·Repairs and replaces meters as required based on Beacon data or PM data.
·QA/QC of the work orders and inspections completed within this group.
·Locating meters as needed.
·Completes work-related reports and/or maintains operation and maintenance logs.
·Customer contact for meters that are obstructed by vehicles, landscaping, pavers, and turf.

·Hires new employees as needed.
·Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests for assistance regarding areas of responsibility.
·Attends meetings, workshops, training, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
·Performs other related duties as assigned.
What Will You Need?
Five (5) years of supervisory experience in public works or utilities construction, maintenance, or major repair
Valid Florida Driver’s License.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
·Possession and maintenance of a valid Level 3 Water Distribution System Operator License and a Florida Water and Pollution Control Operators Backflow Prevention Assembly Testing Certification or the ability to obtain the license and certification within one year.
Highly Desirable
High school diploma or GED.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
·Knowledge of asset management.
·Ability to use an asset management system to plan and schedule work.
·Knowledge of GIS and managing asset attributes within the GIS system.
·Knowledge of addition and subtraction, multiplication, and division, and/or calculating ratios, rates, and percentages.
·Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel skills.
·Ability to gather, organize, analyze, examine, or evaluate data or information and may prescribe action based on such data or information.
·Ability to provide information, guidance, or assistance to people to directly facilitate task accomplishment; may give directions or assignments to helpers or assistants.
·Ability to handle or use machines, tools or equipment requiring brief instruction or experience, such as computers for data entry, fax machines, copiers, telephones, or similar equipment; may service office machines.
·Ability to use power tools and various equipment such as a backhoe.
·Ability to perform skilled work involving rules/systems with almost constant problem-solving.
·Ability to read technical instructions, procedures, manuals, and charts to solve practical problems; composing routine reports and specialized reports, forms, and business letters with proper format; speaking compound sentences using normal grammar and word form.
·Ability to perform clerical, manual, or technical tasks prescribed by standard practices, but which may require computation, the use of several procedures, and the use of independent judgments with obvious choices; requires normal attention for accurate results.
·Ability to guide others, requiring frequent decisions affecting co-workers and others who depend on the service or product; works in a somewhat fluid environment with rules and procedures but with many variations from the routine.
·Knowledge of geography and street locations of the County.
·Ability to make minor decisions following laws, ordinances, regulations, and departmental policies and procedures.
·Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
