Job summary

A manufacturing company in Ogden, Utah is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead and supervise operations personnel in the Maintenance Department. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all operations personnel in Maintenance Department.
  • Organize set up of each job under Manager's direction.
  • Maintain housekeeping of the Maintenance Shop.
  • Hire, train, and support new employees.
  • Document employee disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Oversee and ensure safety of operations.
  • Investigate accidents and ensure safe work practices.
  • Install new machinery and electrical systems under Manager guidance.
  • Maintain equipment and repair/replace parts per specs and blueprints.

Job description

Supervise all operations personnel in Maintenance Department. Lead team members to continually improve quality, safety, and efficiency. Keep hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical equipment in good repair and operating condition. Make all necessary adjustments for proper operation.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise all operations and personnel working in department
  • Organize set up of each job under direction of Manager
  • Oversee and maintain housekeeping of Maintenance Shop
  • Hire, train, and support new employees
  • Document employee disciplinary action when necessary
  • Document and handle employee terminations when necessary
  • Enforce all personnel policies
  • Monitor quality of workmanship
  • Solve job-related problems
  • Be involved in accident investigations
  • Provide safety equipment to employees
  • Responsible for safety of employees
  • Under direction of manager, install new machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe, and mechanical systems
  • Under direction of Manager, dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts following specifications and blueprints, using precision measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Install new electrical systems such as fixtures, motors, panels, transformers, and other equipment
  • Keep electrical equipment such as wiring, motors, switches, switchboards, electrical mechanisms, and fixtures in good repair and operating condition
Requirements
  • Must be proficient in blueprint reading and schematic/diagram interpretation.
  • General computer knowledge, along with a proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Working knowledge of Preventive Maintenance programs routinely used in the Maintenance department.
  • Effective math skills including algebra, trigonometry and geometry.
  • General knowledge of machining and fabrication processes and capabilities.
Essential Mental Functions

Must be able to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of the organization and react favorably in all situations. Is frequently called upon to handle difficult situations. Requires public contact and excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner. Must be able to favorably resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. Must have a long attention span in order to listen to people, perceive the real problems, and bring issues to a successful conclusion. Must handle novel and diverse work problems on a daily basis. Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position.

Essential Physical Functions

Work in shop environment. Must be able to work odd hours/schedule. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment, and machinery, i.e. forklift, truck, cranes. Requires normal range of hearing and vision to operate machinery, and to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Will require steel toe shoes/boots. Requires working under stressful conditions. May require working overtime

Safety Requirements
  • Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others
  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the employer s safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
Equipment Used (but not limited to)

Computer and related software. Copy Machine, Basic Office Equipment.

Availability

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.

Must be available and willing to work overtime as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Travel

Must be available and willing to travel as the employer determines is necessary or desirable to meet its business needs.

Working Conditions

Noisy shop environment 50% of the time. Office environment 50% of the time. May be required to work overtime
