Job summary

Stimson Lumber Company in Forest Grove, Oregon is seeking a motivated Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance program. You’ll guide a skilled team and drive preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to ensure safe, reliable operations.

As a member of the Mill leadership team, you’ll plan, budget, and execute TPM initiatives, manage downtime and spare parts, and partner with operations and vendors to deliver continuous improvement and capital projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of maintenance supervisory experience.
  • Experience with TPM and preventive maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience reading blueprints and electrical or mechanical diagrams.
  • Excellent communication and team leadership.
  • Experience with CMMS and budgeting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance planning and execution.
  • Supervise Millwrights, Electricians, Mechanics, PM Technicians.
  • Ensure safety compliance and foster a safety-first culture.
  • Develop workforce planning, training, and succession.
  • Manage budget, spares, overtime, and KPIs.
  • Lead capital projects and coordinate with vendors.

Job description

Stimson Lumber Company is seeking a motivated Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance program at our Forest Grove, Oregon facility. With over 160 years in the forest products industry, Stimson is built on safety, reliability, and doing things right the first time.In this role, you’ll lead a skilled team of Millwrights, Electricians, Mechanics, PM Technicians, and support staff while driving preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance efforts. You’ll be a key member of the Mill leadership team, partnering across departments to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.Your AccountabilitiesEnsure all maintenance work is performed safely and in compliance with company safety standards.Lead and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution.Supervise and support Millwrights, Electricians, Mechanics, PM Technicians, PLC Technicians, and Maintenance Support staff in daily operations, including scheduled PMs and urgent or emergency repairs.Develop and strengthen your team through training, mentoring, and workforce planning; partner with Mill leadership to ensure bench strength, apprenticeships, and succession planning.Actively participate as a member of the Mill leadership team, collaborating across departments and supporting safety initiatives, special projects, and continuous improvement efforts.Lead approved improvement and capital projects, including research, cost analysis, financial justification, equipment specification, installation planning, and follow-through to ensure desired results are achieved.Partner with vendors and suppliers to maximize service levels, reliability, and value to the company.Monitor, evaluate, and improve key maintenance performance indicators, including:Safety compliancePreventive maintenance completionDowntime managementOvertime management and workforce planningExpense and cost controlsMill cleanliness and organizationYour QualificationsA true Safety-First mindset, consistently role-modeled with a strong personal safety record.Proven ability to select, develop, and lead a cohesive, high-performing maintenance team.Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate others and drive results through teamwork.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes of operational, mechanical, electrical, or safety-related issues.Hands-on troubleshooting knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and PLC programming.Highly organized with strong skills in prioritization, planning, and scheduling.Demonstrated success leading preventive maintenance and TPM efforts in partnership with Operations.Solid business acumen, including managing maintenance budgets, controlling labor and overtime, managing expenses, and maintaining accurate spare parts inventories.Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including daily crew communication around safety, quality, and job expectations, and ongoing collaboration with operational leaders.Experience using CMMS systems, AutoCAD, and standard business software (Microsoft Suite); ability to read and interpret blueprints.Minimum of five (5) years of maintenance supervisory experience with strong preventive, predictive, and proactive maintenance background.High School diploma required.Stimson OffersCompetitive Pay plus 20% Target Bonus401(k) with 6% company match, vested immediatelyMedical, Dental, and Vision coverage options with company sponsored HSAAnnual 3% Company Profit SharingPaid Time Off and 9 paid holidaysEmployee Referral Program – earn $2,500–$5,000 per successful referralWellness Program with reward incentivesTuition Reimbursement, Apprenticeships, and Career Development opportunitiesAccess to company-owned land for recreationLearn more about Stimson’s benefits and values at www.mystimson.com.Who Is Stimson Lumber?Stimson Lumber is a leader in the forest products and natural resources industry, with over 500 employees and operations across Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and Washington.
