Job summary

Surlean Foods seeks a Maintenance Supervisor to direct and coordinate the upkeep of plant equipment, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency. You will coach the team, manage schedules, and ensure GMP/SOP compliance across operations.

Responsibilities include capacity analyses, PM scheduling, disciplinary actions when needed, cross-department coordination, and optimizing line setup for safe, productive runs.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required with 3–5 years related experience in maintenance supervision.
  • Experience leading maintenance teams, ensuring GMP/SOP compliance and safety.
  • Ability to develop budgets, schedules and cost controls for plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate maintenance communications across departments to meet specs.
  • Oversee setup/breakdown of production lines for safe, efficient tasks.
  • Consult with production on machine/equipment modifications to improve production and quality.

Job description

Directs and coordinates activities concerned with maintenance of company property and machinery by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate lead person. Coach and develop team to enhance efficiency and capability. Manage and execute maintenance schedules, coordinate activities for plant improvement projects.

  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specification, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Ensures all maintenance employees are following customer specifications, GMP’s, SOP’s, and safety procedures at all times.
  • Conducts capacity analyses by specific machine to determine the need for additional tools/ capital equipment. Ensures capacity plan is followed. Troubleshoots potential capacity issues on an ongoing basis. Report all finding to upper management.
  • Responsible for maintaining the PM schedule for all plant machinery and verifying PM’s are done properly.
  • Responsible for taking disciplinary action on employee who fail to follow proper procedures.
  • Responsible for Maintenance related communication flow in the plant and coordination between all departments to ensure products are produced to spec in an efficient manner.
  • Oversees the set-up and breakdown of production lines to ensure tasks are performed safely, properly, and efficiently.
  • Consults with production personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • All other tasked assigned by management.
Working Conditions:

Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform the essential job duties.

Work conditions vary, quitting time will vary based upon production needs, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 110 degrees in processing departments.

Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment are present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical, hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.

Must be able to bend, stoop, pull and lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, and subordinate instructions.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and employees.

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED); 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
