Job summary

SEMCOA is seeking a Maintenance Staff member to support multiple family centers in southeast Massachusetts. The role covers daily upkeep, safety tasks and minor repairs at New Bedford and Taunton locations, with a Monday–Friday 8am–4:30pm expectation and need to travel as required.

Responsibilities include facility walk-throughs, responding to requests, completing preventative maintenance, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Benefits are offered to full-time staff.

Qualifications

Must present as courteous and professional at all times.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient with basic computer tasks; able to learn WorxHub quickly.

Responsibilities

Conduct daily facility walk-throughs.
Respond to maintenance requests and keep areas safe and functional.
Perform minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building repairs.
Patch and paint as directed; maintain facilities and grounds.
Attend mandatory trainings and inspections.
Ensure departmental documentation is accurate and current.

Pay Range: $20-27/hr

Status: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

About Us

SEMCOA's (Southeast Massachusetts Council on Advocacy) mission is to advocate for and provide support to individuals, families, and communities in the areas of substance use, mental illness, domestic violence, homelessness, and parenting. SEMCOA operates four emergency assistance family shelters that provide supportive services to families and assist them with securing permanent housing. SEMCOA also provides residential recovery home treatment to individuals with substance use disorders, as well as transitional and permanent housing stability and support programs. Our portfolio also includes two graduate sober houses, the Family Preservation Program, as well as Greater Brockton and Greater Attleboro Taunton Healthy Families programs.

Maintenance Staff Requirements

Must present as courteous and professional at all times
Demonstrated flexibility and ability to perform multiple tasks
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to organize ideas in logical and clear fashion
Proficient and knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs including the ability to learn including WorxHub
Must have the ability to work with others in cooperative and collaborative manner
An understanding of the relationship between substance uses and mental health issues and/or self-help programs
An understanding of boundaries and ethics
Comply with Federal Regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, Substance Abuse Confidentiality Regulations and HIPAA Regulations
Certification in the HPAO approved de-escalation program

Maintenance Staff Duties & Responsibilities

Adherence to HPAO policies and procedures;
Conducts daily facility walk-throughs;
Respond to all maintenance requests;
Ensure that the facility building, grounds and amenities are maintained in safe and attractive conditions: i.e. Lawn care, parking lot, building entrances, walkways and snow removal;
Perform minor electric, plumbing, HVAC and building repairs;
Patch and paint the facility as directed;
Perform routine preventative maintenance on all maintenance, lawn care, housekeeping and floor care equipment;
Perform routine preventative maintenance on all refrigeration units and other electrical appliances;
Perform minor door alarm and lockset repairs;
Conduct all delegated scheduled tests and inspections;
Attend all mandatory trainings and meetings;
Ensure that all departmental operations are conducted in a professional and productive manner;
Conduct weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual inspections;
Ensure that all departmental documentation, as required by HPTC/SEMCOA policies and all applicable regulatory bodies (BSAS/DPH, EOHLC, DMH, Joint Commission, etc..) are accurate and current.
Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Director of Environmental Services to ensure the safe and sanitary operation of the facility.
