MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST - ELECTRICAL

Position Type: Classified - Buildings & Grounds/ Maintenance Specialist - Electrical

Full Time: 260 days/8 hrs/day

Hours: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Duties:

  1. Maintain shop facilities, records, and inventories.
  2. Respond to service calls as assigned.
  3. Assist building staff and other maintenance staff with repairs of all types of electrical devices and/or equipment.
  4. Maintain truck inventory and department tools.
  5. Troubleshoot electrical/HVAC equipment failures.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Lead, Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, Director of Building & Grounds, or designee.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years or more experience as Journeyman Electrician.
  2. Requires Minnesota Class A Journeyman Electricians License.
  3. Requires valid Class "D" Minnesota driver's license.
  4. Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures.
  5. Working knowledge of computers and computer programs used in the assigned area.
  6. Knowledgeable in the operation and function of HVAC and building automation.
  7. Ability to understand and observe oral and written instructions.
  8. Ability to read, understand and follow architectural, electrical, mechanical, and schematic drawings.
  9. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
  10. Motivated self-starter; well-organized and efficient; ability to work with minimum supervision and direction.
  11. Ability to maintain regular attendance, which includes completing an assigned day.
  12. Ability to perform position responsibilities, including physical factors, work devices and materials handling, data functions, and people functions.
  13. Must be physically working in the building/on site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master electrician of record preferred.
  2. Ability to read electrical plans and wiring schematics; interact and communicate well with contractors and the general public preferred.
  3. Ability to troubleshoot equipment or circuits down to the defective components using test equipment, read and interpret resource manuals and construction plans/specs preferred.
  4. Ability to work from schematics, blueprints, and other plans as well as update plans preferred.
  5. Knowledge of construction industries and of acceptable standards and techniques, including knowledge of industry standards for construction and HVAC projects preferred.
  6. Knowledge of State of Minnesota Electrical Standards preferred.

Rate of Pay: $35.70/hour, plus an additional stipend of $5.00/hr for the electrician's license.
