Job summary

Hallmark is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to install, repair, and maintain machinery at the Leavenworth production facility. The role requires reading blueprints, wiring, and PLC schematics, plus troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of related experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work as part of a team in a climate-controlled environment. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required with mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience demonstrating mechanical and electrical ability.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work with boilers, chillers, and air compressors.
  • Experience with welding (arc, gas) and installing industrial electrical systems.
  • Strong safety mindset and ability to work in teams under pressure.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Specialist with a broad range of mechanical and troubleshooting abilities. This position will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment used in Hallmark’s Leavenworth Production Facility. The Maintenance Specialist will:

  • Repair and maintain machinery in accordance with blueprints, manuals, and craft codes.
  • Install machinery and equipment. This includes assembling, leveling, and mounting equipment, making necessary electric, compressed air, gas, and water connections.
  • Dismantle and reassemble machinery, making new connections as needed.
  • Modify existing equipment or design and build new machines to improve capacity, quality, safety, and cost.
  • Instruct operators and supervisors in the operation of new or modified equipment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by moving to different work areas as needed.
  • Perform duties in accordance with sound safety practices. Transport and handle hazardous waste material in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations.

The hours for this position are Monday - Friday 3:30p - 12:00p.

The ideal candidates will have:

  • Ability to repair and maintain machinery, including replacing belts, repairing or installing electrical wiring and hydraulic lines.
  • Proficiency in electronics, reading electronic schematics, and wiring Ladder logic.
  • Ability to weld using arc, heli-arc, and gas welding equipment.
  • Experience with lathe and milling machines for complex jobs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work as a team member.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to continually improve skills.
  • Ability to travel for training locally and/or out of town.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years related experience that successfully demonstrates mechanical and electrical ability.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints; be proficient in using gas, wire, spot and arc welding equipment; knowledge with working on boilers, chillers, and air compressors; able to install plumbing and industrial electrical systems with the proper code requirements; knowledgeable of industrial electronics and programmable logic controls, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to understand and follow established safety procedures. Transport and handle hazardous waste material in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Ability to prioritize jobs by assigned work areas according to key processes. Ability to re-organize when needed and to work under pressure.
  • Ability to push, pull, grasp, lift and carry items weighing up to 50-100 lbs frequently and 100+ lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to constantly stand and walk. Ability to frequently bend, twist, kneel, squat, climb, and reach at/above shoulder level.
  • Ability to frequently work in awkward positions and occasionally work from ladders.
  • Good math, written, oral communication skills and ability to learn and retain knowledge.
  • Demonstrates initiative and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

  • Work overtime as required during peak seasons
  • This is a maintenance environment that requires wearing appropriate PPE and following operating procedures when working with hazardous chemicals, hazardous energies, and in harsh operating environments without climate controls
  • Must wear PPE for Arc Flash protection, as well as other PPE such as safety glasses and safety shoes
  • Required to operate hand powered tools and industrial shop machinery
  • There is some noise and hearing protection is required by Hallmark

This position is located in Leavenworth, Kansas. Relocation is not provided.
