The Maintenance Specialist performs routine and minor repairs and maintenance of BGCMA facilities, handles pick-ups, moves, and secures donated, purchased, or other items, and assists in maintaining the van while documenting activities and transactions.

Job Summary

The Maintenance Specialist performs routine and minor repairs and maintenance of BGCMA facilities, pick-ups, moves, and secures donated, purchased, or other items, and assists in maintaining the van and documenting activities and transactions.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities

  1. Follow the schedule set by the Director of Facility Operations to perform routine and minor HVAC, electrical, and plumbing repairs, reporting progress daily.
  2. Repair building structures, walls, floors, ceilings, cabinets, and furniture.
  3. Ensure work areas are clean after completion; collect, clean, and put away tools.
  4. Assemble and move furniture such as desks, chairs, and tables, and set up recreation equipment like weight machines; hang pictures and bulletin boards.
  5. Pick up and deliver donated (gift-in-kind) items.
  6. Complete paperwork to document maintenance and activities.
  7. Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly storage space and keep an inventory of donated items.
  8. Advise the supervisor when outside contractors are needed and assist in obtaining bids.
  9. Maintain BGCMA vehicle in good repair, following the maintenance schedule, and keep it clean and safe.
  10. Keep inventory of supplies and equipment, updating annually.

Education/Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Certification in a related field required; Electrician certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Experience

  • At least two years of related work experience, including basic construction, electrical, plumbing, and small equipment repairs.
  • Ability to follow schedules, report activities, and document transactions properly.
  • Experience with power tools and safety procedures.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must meet driver guidelines: age 25+, valid license, clean MVR.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques; ability to lift at least 50 pounds.

Environment & Working Conditions

Driving BGCMA vehicles around Atlanta; physical activity including standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting heavy objects; working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions; occasional evening and weekend work for events; frequent contact with staff.
