Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation is seeking a Maintenance Section Assistant in Sterling City to coordinate crews, equipment, and materials for roadway maintenance projects. The role supports the section supervisor and leads maintenance teams to ensure safe, efficient operations across Sterling and nearby counties.

Responsibilities include planning emergency responses, enforcing safety guidelines, inspecting work progress, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or equivalent required.
• 6 years of roadway maintenance or construction experience; substitutions may be allowed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the maintenance section and contracted crews, including scheduling equipment, materials and personnel for section projects.
• Assist with planning and implementing emergency responses to inclement weather, accidents, and hazardous spills affecting area roadways.
• Ensure all projects follow established safety guidelines and inspect road conditions and work progress.
• Maintain records on materials, supplies and personnel; may operate light and heavy roadway equipment.
• Assist in budget preparation for the section and complete reports on damaged infrastructure.
