Job summary

Ohio Department of Public Safety - Ohio State Highway Patrol seeks a Maintenance Repair Worker 2 to perform maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical and plumbing systems at the Toledo post. The role includes carpentry, painting, and basic grounds work, with driving duties to move tools and equipment across sites.

The position requires 6 months of maintenance experience or related training, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work a 6:00am–3:00pm schedule.

Qualifications

  • Must have arithmetic literacy and English proficiency.
  • 6 months of maintenance repair experience or training in basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and use of related tools.
  • Valid commercial driver's license if motor equipment is regulated by state code.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance, replacement, installation and repair of electrical and plumbing equipment.
  • Performs carpentry work involving maintenance, alteration or repair of buildings, equipment and wood structures.
  • Performs basic painting.
  • Operates state vehicle to transport equipment and supplies to locations within the state.
  • Performs minor custodial duties.
  • Performs general exterior grounds keeping duties.
  • Performs minor maintenance on Division vehicles.

What You'll Do as a Maintenance Repair Worker 2
  • Performs maintenance, replacement, installation & repair of electrical and plumbing equipment.

Qualifications

Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary;

AND 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in maintenance repair work(e.g.,basic electricity, plumbing, carpentry, masonry repair & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment);

ANDValid commercial driver's license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.

POSITION SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires valid driver license to operate state vehicle
