Job summary

Sterling Engineering is seeking an experienced Maximo SME to govern and optimize IBM Maximo within a manufacturing maintenance environment. This senior role leads governance, standards, and decision-making on configuration and usage, partnering with maintenance, reliability, engineering, operations, and IT.

The candidate will drive process improvements across preventive maintenance, work orders, asset hierarchy, and scheduling while delivering training and process documentation.

Job description

Duration: 6-12+ months

Pay Rate $60.00 - $70.00 per hour

I am looking for an experienced Maximo SME to provide governance, functional leadership, and process optimization for a manufacturing maintenance organization. This is NOT a Maximo developer or an IT support position.

I need someone who understands maintenance operations and can make decisions on how Maximo should be configured, governed, and used.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the functional SME and decision-maker for IBM Maximo.
• Establish Maximo governance, standards, and best practices.
• Optimize maintenance workflows, system functionality, and data quality.
• Improve preventive maintenance, work orders, job plans, asset hierarchy, and maintenance planning and scheduling.
• Determine whether issues require system changes, process improvements, data corrections, or user training.
• Partner with Maintenance, Reliability, Engineering, Operations, and IT.
• Develop and deliver Maximo training and process documentation.

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on IBM Maximo experience.
• 15+ years of Manufacturing maintenance or reliability experience.
• Experience as a Maximo SME, functional lead, system owner, or product owner.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, PM programs, work orders, job plans, asset management, and CMMS governance.
• Experience optimizing Maximo tools and maintenance processes.
• Strong communication, training, and decision-making skills.
• Multi-site or global manufacturing experience preferred.
