Job summary

The City of Mount Vernon is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support Streets, Storm Water, and Wastewater operations. The role requires responding to emergency events and performing a broad range of infrastructure maintenance tasks across city facilities.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and at least two years in a similar public service setting, with CDL Class A tanker endorsement and related certifications preferred. Competitive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Requires CDL Class A with Tanker Endorsement.
• Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license.
• Experience in public works or municipal maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains Streets, Storm Water, and Wastewater infrastructure including signs, lighting, and drainage facilities.
• Provides emergency response to floods, snow/ice events, windstorms, fires, and sewer backups.
• Locates maintenance areas, maintains service records, and conducts inspections.
• Performs related duties and assists other departments as needed.
