Job summary

The City of Mount Vernon is seeking Maintenance Worker – Streets / Storm Water / Wastewater to perform operations and maintenance of wastewater, storm water drainage, roadways, sidewalks, and related facilities. CDL Class A with Tanker endorsement required, plus multiple certifications for progression through Operator I-III.

Responsibilities include traffic control, pothole patching, ADA ramp work, catch basin maintenance, and emergency response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 2 years in a similar public service role.
• Two years of experience with a public service agency or related field.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wastewater and storm water systems and city infrastructure.
• Provide traffic control and routine maintenance on streets and sidewalks.
• Assist with pavement repairs, ADA ramp improvements, and street project work.
• Respond to emergencies including flooding, snow/ice events, and spill responses.
• Coordinate with other departments and agencies as needed.
