Job summary

Lorain County Metro Parks is seeking a custodial and maintenance worker to support facilities across park locations. You will perform custodial tasks, basic repairs, and landscaping, and assist with setting up spaces for public and private events.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to use hand and power tools, and a valid Ohio driver’s license. Weekend/evening availability and background checks are required.

Job description

Performs a wide range of custodial and general maintenance, repair, and construction work. Sets up facilities for public and private functions. Performs mainly routine tasks in maintenance and landscaping. Empties and disposes of trash and cleans all areas of buildings. Maintains floors, restrooms, and storage areas; cleans windows. Mows grass, prunes trees and bushes, shovels snow. Maintains the inventory of supplies and equipment. Inspects and secures buildings. Works at other park locations as needed.

RATE OF PAY: $17.42 per hour

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and some work experience in the field.
• Ability to add and subtract.
• Basic computer skills.
• Able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to carry out instructions and work alone on many tasks.
• Knowledge of the materials, equipment, and methods commonly used in custodial work.
• Must be able to operate a wide variety of hand and power tools.
• Knowledge and ability to perform grounds and building maintenance in various weather conditions.
• Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed.
• Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license.
• New employees must satisfactorily complete a background check.
• Lorain County Metropolitan Park District policy prohibits hiring new employees who are tobacco users.
