Job summary

Lorain County Metro Parks is seeking a custodial and maintenance worker to support facilities across park locations. You will perform custodial tasks, basic repairs, and landscaping, and assist with setting up spaces for public and private events.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, ability to use hand and power tools, and a valid Ohio driver’s license. Weekend/evening availability and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with some field experience.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
• Basic computer skills.
• Clear verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Knowledge of custodial materials, equipment, and methods.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools.
• Grounds and building maintenance in varying weather.
• Availability on weekends and evenings as needed.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license.
• New employees must pass a background check.
• Policy prohibits hiring tobacco users.

Responsibilities

• Performs custodial and general maintenance, repair, and construction work.
• Sets up facilities for public and private functions.
• Performs routine maintenance and landscaping tasks.
• Empties and disposes of trash and cleans all areas of buildings.
• Maintains floors, restrooms, and storage areas; cleans windows.
• Mows grass, prunes trees and bushes, shovels snow.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Inspects and secures buildings.
• Works at other park locations as needed.
